Trump: “If Oprah Runs, She Will be Exposed”

When word started going around that Oprah Winfrey might run for office in 2020, Donald Trump confidently said she wouldn’t run. He didn’t offer any details as to why, though we had a fairly good idea.

On January the 8th CNN’s Brian Stelter tweeted, “BULLETIN: I’m told my (sic) two of @Oprah’s close friends that she is “actively thinking” about running for president in 2020…”

Oprah fanned the flames of rumor when she accepted the Cecil B. de Mille award, saying, “For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up! So I want all the girls watching here, now, to know that a new day is on the horizon.”

After the speech, the Internet was ablaze with talk of Oprah running for president in the next election.

Since then, we learned that Oprah is not the champion for women that she has always claimed to be. When pressed on his thoughts on Oprah’s possible candidacy, Donald Trump replied in a tweet which read; “Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes. The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!”

So it would appear that Trump believes Oprah is not the paragon of virtue that she is reputed to be. This came as somewhat of a surprise, to us and we had to do a bit of digging to find out what Trump was alluding to.

Oprah has long been a close friend to Harvey Weinstein, and she has never publicly disavowed him since he was first exposed for being a sex offender of epic proportions. That may not seem like a huge dilemma for Oprah, but considering the #metoo related comments she made when she accepted her award, it may be.

But soon after the rumors started circulating, Seal, the Grammy Award-winning singer began posting information about Oprah on his Instagram account. He called her “part of the problem,” referring to the culture of rape and sexual abuse that has been rampant in Hollywood for decades.

Since then, images of Oprah which appears to demonstrate just how close she was to Weinstein have been making the rounds.

Shortly after Oprah’s big announcement, British actress Kadian Noble came forward saying, Oprah had ‘pimped her like a whore’ to Weinstein. She said Oprah coerced her to go back to Weinstein’s hotel. But her #metoo moment is being ignored by the media.

According to Noble, she first met Weinstein in London at an event. She was impressed that he was partying with Naomi Campbell and had Oprah “swinging on his arm.”

Noble said, “I thought, ‘this man has something amazing in store for me.’”

Noble is the latest to come forward with allegations of sexual predation concerning Harvey Weinstein. But she is the first to openly accuse Oprah of having a hand in Weinstein’s crimes.

Not surprisingly, many big names in Hollywood are now rallying behind Oprah. But, many social media users have highlighted Winfrey’s relationship with Weinstein, with the many photos circulating of the two after Oprah’s speech. The images are being tagged, “#OprahKnew.”

Others are questioning Oprah’s behavior concerning the scandal that surrounded her South African girls’ school in 2007 when one of the teachers was accused of molesting a number of the students.

This week, Seth MacFarlane tweeted; “Oprah is beyond doubt a magnificent orator. But the idea of a reality show star running against a talk show host is troublingly dystopian. We don’t want to create a world where dedicated public service careers become undesirable and impractical in the face of raw celebrity.”

While few Trump supporters would cite the president’s qualification for the office as having anything to do with his television chops, Winfrey has little else to offer. Oprah is frequently referred to as a capable businesswoman, but the truth is her expertise has much more to do with branding than it has to do with financial or organizational acumen. Trump, on the other hand, is a proven genius at running and growing businesses.

While early opinion polls are showing Oprah has an advantage over Trump at present, it is never too early to start educating people about Oprah’s complicity with Weinstein’s innumerable sex crimes.
